Guest posts at Physics Today and GradHacker

Shannon Morey and Ty Jones of MSU Science Theatre perform physics demonstrations at a school in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

If you enjoy Astrobites’ Career Navigation and Personal Experiences content, such as Amandeep Gill’s recent post on why she chose to go to grad school, then you might be interested in the following two guest articles written by Astrobites authors for other websites.

Over at the Physics Today Points of View blog, Dan Gifford and I have a piece with advice for engaging the public through outreach. If you’ve already read Dan’s Astrobite on why you should get involved in outreach, this article will tell you how to get involved. We talk about lessons we’ve learned from our experiences in terrific outreach organizations such as the Tacoma Astronomical Society, Michigan State University Science Theatre, and Harvard’s Science in the News.

Second, I wrote a short piece for GradHacker describing what makes being an astronomy grad student unique. If you’re an undergraduate considering the career options in front of you, this should help you get the flavor for how astrophysics programs differ from other fields.
